Hi, I am Emma and along with my husband Joel and my parents Philip and Alison and we farm 1700 acres in the NSW Riverina town of The Rock.
We follow regenerative farming practices to produce premium quality lamb and wool, as well as cereal cropping. Recently we restored the original 1920's homestead on Avalon farm to become Avalon Farmstay and offer our lamb and locally sourced produce to guests through Avalon Pantry.
I am the 5th generation to farm in the area, and you will see that farming continues running in the family with our 4 children joining in whenever they can.
Regenerative Farming
Through our membership in the Land to Market Co-Operative and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) Avalon Farm is recognised as a regenerative farm, and our lamb and wool is sold at a premium within the market.
My family believe that regenerative farming provides the opportunity to produce the highest quality products. We do this by valuing and enhancing the biodiversity within the farm, and the health of the farm passes on to our livestock's health and wellbeing.
Avalon Farmstay and Avalon Pantry
Avalon Farmstay is a fully restored 1920's luxury farmhouse, sleeping up to 7 guests with all the modern conveniences for a self-contained holiday. Avalon Farmstay is located just 3kms from The Rock township and 30km from the regional city of Wagga Wagga. Joel and I try to make the time to meet all our guests, and share our knowledge and farm with those that are interested.
Avalon Pantry offers guests the opportunity to have meals provided in house, showcasing our own lamb and locally sourced products. From a locally made grazing box to lamb cutlets on the BBQ, and seasonal produce from our vege patch and orchard, Avalon Pantry is the paddock to plate experience guests love.
History
We purchased Avalon farm in 2019 and this property is next door to my mum's family farm Avon, where her brother, my Uncle Malcolm continues to farm.
For generations my family has had a close friendship with their neighbours at Avalon and Joel and I have collected wonderful stories and memories that we love sharing with guests.
Connections
Avalon Farm and Farmstay offers Joel and I the opportunity to share what we have here and why it is important to us. When guests come to Avalon Farmstay they have the opportunity to share the history of Avalon, to connect with nature in a new way and share our little piece of paradise.
Avalon farm brings together the country and the city, and closes that divide by sharing our regenerative practice and our end products with guests that come and stay, and also our wider community.
